Overview

The Community Engagement Pillar seeks to develop a “Community of Practice” for women to mentor and learn from one another, identify opportunities to share their expertise, and engage with a diverse community of stakeholders worldwide. Under this pillar, WiST coordinates meet and greet opportunities with senior government and international organization leadership and cultivates mentoring opportunities for early and mid-career women in the field of strategic trade.

Featured Activity

The first annual WiST Mentoring Initiative (WiSTMI) was launched in 2023, with the first cohort of six women nominated from Southeast Asia beginning their six-month mentorship in the spring of 2024. With guidance from their mentors – who are experienced international strategic trade practitioners – these women are working to build a safer, more secure world by strengthening the implementation of strategic trade management in their countries.

The community engagement pillar will continue to expand through the establishment of a WiST Working Groups and an online collaboration platform.
